Arts Editorial Internship-San Francisco

Filed under: Media Internships Program News, Northern California Internships — Sean Mitchell @ 10:26 pm

San Francisco Bay Area’s definitive online city guide to Arts & Culture, Entertainment, Food, Shopping, and Urban Living.
Since 1996, we’ve been providing users with comprehensive and up-to-the-minute Event Calendar listings, a dynamic Business Directory, and a “hip and progressive” editorial voice that reviews anything from films, music shows, restaurants, retail shops, and more.
We are currently looking for an individual seeking a career in new media or a related field. These internships are unpaid, and are generally available only to students currently enrolled or recently graduated from an accredited program.  Any experience engaging an online community via blogs and other social networking sites a plus.

Our internships involve finding the best events happening in the Bay Area to be listed in our upcoming events calendar as well as main topic pages. Depending on your interests, in addition to calendar listings, they also can involve coordinating channel updates, micro blogging, interviewing bands, previewing or reviewing live music shows, plays or other events, or writing CD reviews. The intern might help curate the work of local artists for our online gallery, or work with our marketing department to promote our company, a position that offers opportunities for networking.

Requirements:

Commitment of 15 - 20 hours per week for 12 weeks. In order to ensure the educational benefit of the internship, we work with each individual to set goals at the outset. These include quantifiable, specific targets and also broader educational objectives. Interns work closely with experienced professionals, and are given feedback throughout the internship and at its conclusion.

When applying also send any other relevant information including but not limited to writing samples and/or links that showcase your current interest in the new media field.
