Film & Video seeking interns-San Francisco

FILM & DIGITAL MEDIA ARCHIVING INTERNSHIP

This Film & Video Company is a rapidly growing stock footage company specializing in providing offbeat and eclectic footage for feature films, broadcast television and other projects. We acquire, archive and supply footage for creative projects across the globe.

Searching for someone to assist in day-to-day operations including researching footage requests, film to videotape transfers, film and video logging, off-line time code editing, database entry and other technical and organizational duties. This is not a production position. This is an unpaid internship, college credit is available.

REQUIREMENTS                                                                                                Sharp, Savvy, Reliable, Self directed and detail oriented, Interested in archiving film, video and related media,Mac computer, Have a basic understanding of film/video systems

*Minimum 4month commitment of 2 full weekdays per week required.

LEARN                                                                                                                 How to transfer film to video, film preservation, principle of time code, procedures for logging various media, how to work with digital files, digitizing and uploading moving images, how to maintain digital databases, cleaning, repairing and archiving 16mm and 35mm film elements and off-line editing.

FILM PROGRAMMING INTERN

This internship enables interns to learn about film and media programming whilst also discovering the inner workings behind the promotion and curatorship or screenings. Interns will assist the film programmer with the preparation and advertising for programs and help with the actual film screenings. This is an unpaid position which will teach, inform and give you hands-on experience in the areas of archiving, film and media programming, sound and image projection, writing, social networking and other creative areas which can be useful in many other fields.

REQUIREMENTS                                                                                                          Sharp/savvy, reliable, self directed and detail oriented, Articulate, with excellent oral and written communication skills, Mac computer literate,Familiar with Photoshop and Filemaker Pro *Minimum 4 month commitment of one day per weekday and be able to work Friday and Saturday evenings from 7:30-10:30pm

DUTIES                                                                                                                      Interns will assist in writing press releases for screenings, researching and updating social network sites and press promotion for our programs, updating the screening mailing list and reviewing films for the screenings. They will also assist the film programmer with ticket sales, screening room set up and take down.

BUILDING YOUR FUTURE                                                                                            Past interns have received scholarships to New York University’s Moving Image Preservation Program, furthered their studies at the L Jeffrey Selznick School of Film Preservation at the George Eastman House, received grants from the Association of Moving Image Archivists and have been hired at the Motion Picture Academy of Arts and Sciences, Lucasfilm, the Stanford Archives of Recorded Sound, Current TV and the National Archives.

DIGITAL MARKETING INTERNSHIP                                                                              This internship involves creative brainstorming, copywriting, placement in print and electronic media, researching and social networking sites into our promotion, web page promotion, and special public relations projects. Other duties include working closely with company’s marketing director in developing strategies to increase the profile and presence of the company. You will learn and develop many aspects of electronic promotion, marketing digitizing and other skills related to electronic media.

REQUIREMENTS                                                                                                        Sharp/savvy, reliable, driven, detail oriented and self directed, Articulate, with excellent communication skills both oral and written, Mac computer literate, Familiar with Photoshop, Illustrator and Filemaker Pro *Minimum 4 month commitment of 2 full weekdays per week or an alternate time equivalent

DUTIES                                                                                                                    Duties include copywriting, electronic publicity and special public relation projects including arranging sponsorships and interviews. We market our company in all the leading industry magazines. We have a video channel and also have a presence on numerous social networking sites. You will work closely with the company’s marketing director in developing strategies to increase the profile and presence of the company.

BUILDING YOUR FUTURE                                                                                                             This position is presently unpaid though a percentage of sales directly related to your leads will be paid. Additional incentives are in place to provide future hourly and commissioned employment. College credit is possible. After an initial training period applicants who show promising results from their work may be offered employment on an independent contractor basis.

Marketing Internship-San Francisco

General Description:

This internship offers valuable hands on experience in film marketing (publicity and promotion), with special focus on independent and foreign film. Opportunity to learn about Bay Area media outlets, film and cultural scene, and other important business contacts. Also gives insight to film exhibition and distribution. Plus, a friendly working environment with free popcorn!
· Intern position is not paid; must be receiving college credit for internship
·Hours are flexible; between 12-24 hours/week; within the work hours Mon-Fri, 9am-5:30pm.
· Benefits include: free admission to regular film showings at theatre, tickets to special film events, free promo schwag (t-shirts, posters, cd’s, etc.)

Marketing:

· Contribute to the creation of concepts for film promotions or other programs specific to theaters
· Write publicity/marketing materials (press releases, etc.)
· Monitor media (newspapers, online) for film publicity results
· Research/make calls for targeted businesses/organizations on specific film promotions
· Execute grassroots marketing, including online promotion
· Prepare promotional materials, including copy for printing postcards & flyers,entry boxes, one-sheet snipes, etc.
· By specific arrangement, provide support at special events.

General Office:
· Process mailings, and overnight packages, filing
· Be proficient in MS Windows, MS Word, MS Excel

Desired Skills/Attributes:

· General office skills: phone, typing, filing.
· Good computer skills
· Writing skills: Press release and other material directed to media. Also material directed to general public: weekly email bulletin, copy for flyers, etc.
· Experience or knowledge of film, especially independent/foreign-language film.
· Experience or knowledge of media in general, and San Francisco media in particular
· Familiarity with San Francisco Bay Area, particularly San Francisco and Berkeley.

Salem Radio Promotions/Marketing Intern

Salem San Francisco is seeking a responsible, outgoing student who is looking to learn more about the exciting world of radio, particularly the aspect of planning events, advertising and promoting, and marketing for a radio station.

Position Summary: Salem San Francisco’s Promotions Department handles marketing efforts for both Business Radio KDOW AM1220 and KFAX Christian Radio AM 1100.  An Intern in the Promotions Department would be responsible for much of the legwork involved in planning events for both stations, and efforts in marketing the stations to new audiences.  This includes clerical duties (data entry, filing and correspondence), listener relations, setting up and working events (conferences, concerts, station remotes, etc.), and other various tasks handed down by management.

Qualifications: Our internship program is built to GIVE you the experience you need, so we don’t require much.  However, you must be over 18 years of age, and legally be allowed to work in the United States.  You must also be enrolled in an educational institution, and be able to receive credit for the work that you do here.  You must also have an available schedule that permits you to work nights and/or weekends in addition to office hours at the station.  You must have a CA drivers license and be able to lift 30lbs.  You must also have a working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, and be comfortable and presentable in working with the public.  Experience with HTML is a plus.

SF Film Society seeks interns-San Francisco

We are looking for an intern who can work 1-2 days a week at our office in the Presidio aiding the Filmmaker Services Department. The intern will mainly work with the Grants and Residencies programs. This internship will be a valuable way to learn about filmmaking in the Bay Area. This is also an exciting opportunity to be part of the rapidly-growing Filmmaker Services Department.

Duties will include: organizing information, compiling materials, communicating with our contacts, as well as aiding with research on filmmakers, trends in filmmaking as well as research for our programs and counterpart programs.

Intern must be detail-oriented, hard working and enthusiatic. Filmmaking experience and knowledge of the Bay Area film industry is preferable.

Production Internship-San Francisco

Fitness Company that has a new in-house production team that handles every aspect of production for best-in-class fitness DVDs. Our DVDs and commercials are produced and shot with top-level professional athletes and trainers from every sport. We produce unprecedented fitness athletes and trainers from every sport.

There are 2 Production Assistant Internship Opportunities available.

We are looking for interns interested in producing, production managing, shooting, editing (Final Cut Pro), and graphic design. Organization and interpersonal skills a must. You will support senior and associate producers with logistical and tactical arrangements and procedures. This is a great opportunity to grasp the entire production process-from concepts, script writing and approval, location scouting, permit requests, creating and managing production schedules.

You will also provide general production assistance during shoots, and standard assistance for editors during post production, such as digitizing, logging footage, maintaining our video library and creating rough cuts. This position will also have varying levels of creative project opportunities through spearheading adjunct CREATIVE web and promotional campaigns. You will also have the chance to film our sponsored athletes in their professional athletic setting.

Requirements:

Media Group seeks Spring 2010 interns-San Francisco

Small, television based, music video show Production Company located
in downtown San Francisco is seeking several interns that will actively participate across all levels of our production projects, involved in planning through delivery. Historically, our main focus has been based in music video programming, and we are now expanding our efforts with two additional projects for public consumption.  1) Production and initial marketing of talk format television pilots, and 2) Video documentation of an annual live event including subsequent post-production for DVD, television and new media distribution.A minimum of 16 hours per week is required for the entirety of the internship which will end on or about April 30. Outside of two or three mandatory work days, the work schedule is flexible and may be mutually agreed upon based on your availability. Nonprofit Arts Education Program seeking interns-San Francisco

We are a non-profit literacy arts program that uses storytelling, digital media, autobiographical writing and interactive theater activities to help students develop their reading, writing and oral communication skills.

Our interns work in San Francisco public middle schools helping students create their own autobiographical stories. Interns help students tell autobiographical stories by facilitating small groups and working one-on-one with students. There are a variety of different programs using different mediums to tell these stories, including writing, theater arts, blogging, and digital movie making.

We also have a need for administrative and management interns in a variety of capacities.  Learn skill sets ranging from classroom arts facilitation to copyediting.

Our in school and community programs serve over 2,000 youth in six Bay Area counties a year; 65% are low-income; 30% English Language Learners; 95% youth of color; and more than 60% are scoring below basic level on literacy tests.

These are non-paid internship. We are willing to fulfill requirements in order for you to receive course credit.

Arts Editorial Internship-San Francisco

Since 1996, we’ve been providing users with comprehensive and up-to-the-minute Event Calendar listings, a dynamic Business Directory, and a “hip and progressive” editorial voice that reviews anything from films, music shows, restaurants, retail shops, and more.
We are currently looking for an individual seeking a career in new media or a related field. These internships are unpaid, and are generally available only to students currently enrolled or recently graduated from an accredited program.  Any experience engaging an online community via blogs and other social networking sites a plus.

Our internships involve finding the best events happening in the Bay Area to be listed in our upcoming events calendar as well as main topic pages. Depending on your interests, in addition to calendar listings, they also can involve coordinating channel updates, micro blogging, interviewing bands, previewing or reviewing live music shows, plays or other events, or writing CD reviews. The intern might help curate the work of local artists for our online gallery, or work with our marketing department to promote our company, a position that offers opportunities for networking.

Requirements:

Commitment of 15 - 20 hours per week for 12 weeks. In order to ensure the educational benefit of the internship, we work with each individual to set goals at the outset. These include quantifiable, specific targets and also broader educational objectives. Interns work closely with experienced professionals, and are given feedback throughout the internship and at its conclusion.

Film & Video Company seeks interns-San Rafael

We are a Production company that provides pre-production, production and post-production services including budgeting and scheduling, cinematography, directing, production management, picture and sound editing as well as creative services for corporate videos, ENG (Electronic News Gathering), episodic television, multi-camera live-event coverage, commercials and documentaries. In addition The Big Picture also provides corporate event production services from creative concept to scripting, staging, set design and direction.  We work in film, video, DV, HD and 24p formats.

INTERNSHIP PROGRAM
We seek highly energetic and motivated interns to assist in both the production office, in the editing suite and on location for 13 weeks.  The intern will learn about the business of production as well as gain hands-on experience with the opportunity to assist with all the aspects of a production from set up to wrap.  Interns will have the chance to experience pre-production planning such as helping location and client research, casting calls, client relationships, scripting, budgeting, and scheduling.  Production opportunities include accompanying the crew on field productions and assisting with set up and wrap, equipment set up, shooting, talent coordination, make-up and wardrobe assistance, time management, and location contacts.  Post-production exposure includes assisting with edits, effects, graphics, audio, logging tape, transcription, and dubbing tape.  Previous experience in production is helpful, but not required.  Current students in the field are highly encouraged to apply for this non-paying internship and must be enrolled in a college or university that will issue school credit.
