Film Festival Volunteer Department Internship

September 21 – October 25, Seasonal Position
Immediate Supervisor: Volunteer Coordinator

The Mill Valley Film Festival is looking for an intern to assist with the coordination of more than 200 volunteers. Interns will get to see all aspects of a Film Festival. This is a great opportunity for anyone interested in film or event production.

Prior to the Festival interns will work in our San Rafael Offices and from home. During the Festival (10/8-18) interns will be on-site at our Festival venues in San Rafael and Mill Valley.

Primary duties will include:
•    Assist Volunteer Coordinator in recruitment, training, scheduling and all related coordination of the volunteers that provide support to the Festival, during and prior.
•    Assist with Shiftboard, our online scheduling website and database.
•    Assist with in-kind donations for the Volunteer Party on October 25
•    Provide support to volunteers on-site during the Festival
•    Provide administrative and computer support (Microsoft office).
•    Respond to volunteer questions and concerns
•    Oversee volunteers at events (as needed)
•    Assist staff on special projects (as needed)

Requirements:
•    This internship involves interacting with many people including volunteers, patrons and staff. You are expected to be professional, reliable, and friendly.
•    Access to public transportation (or a car)
•    A valid driver’s license
•    An interest in Film is helpful!
•    Must be available on 9/21, 9/22, 9/26, 10/8-18, and 10/25

Sample Schedule:
•    September 21, 3:00 – 7:30pm (Volunteer sign-up session #1)
•    September 22, 3:00 – 6:30pm (Volunteer sign-up session #2)
•    September 26, 8:00am – 1:00pm (Volunteer sign-up session #3 & orientation)
•    September 17-30, approx. 4 hours a week.
•    October 1-7, approx. 8 hours a week.
•    October 8-18, including nights and weekends (schedule TBD)
•    October 25, 1:00pm to 6:00pm (Volunteer Appreciation Party)

NOTE: Aside from the required dates (see “Requirements”) schedule is flexible and can be tailored to accommodate students and those with a part-time job.

Compensation:
This is unpaid internship. Benefits include: course credit, letters of recommendation, Film Festival vouchers, and access to Film Festival events via volunteer supervision. Interns may also be eligible to receive a CFI membership.
