Television/Film Internship

Major independent production company is looking for interns who are interested in careers in television or film as a studio executive, network executive, producer, agent, writer or director.

The internship will NOT consist of making copies instead the student will learn fundamentals of the entertainment industry, fundamentals of being an assistant, and actively participating in the research and development of company projects. In addition the intern will learn assistant skills such as learning a phone sheet, phone terminology, scheduling and confirming meetings, etc.

Students will help think of titles for television shows, review treatments, conduct online research, help cast shows and much more. Must be very professional, polished, talented, and commited.

Creative Marketing Intern

Independent production company seeks creative marketing interns. This is an execellent opportunity for someone interested in a career in graphic design. The ideal candidate will be a self starter that displays willingness to learn and is detail oriented.

Duties include: resizing of artwork and prep files for various media needs.

Radio Internship - Seaside (Monterey Peninsula)

The Scott Dick show is a political talk show broadcast from the commercial progressive station KRXA 540AM based on the Monterey Peninsula. This is a new show beginning on December 10, 2007.

The Tasty Planet Show is a food, wine and travel show airing every Saturday from 2-4PM and has aired since Oct 2005.

Education Intern - San Rafael, SF, East Bay

Education Intern
The California Film Institute is seeking interns to assist the Director of Education. CFI Education is an expanding program covering all of the Bay Area and with a combination of hands-on filmmaking and media literacy programs. The intern schedule is flexible, however we request that interns be available to devote a minimum of 10-15 hours a week, Monday through Fridays with an occasional weekend day during the Mill Valley Film Festival in October. Since the program is 12 months a year special attention will be paid to intern applications for a longer period of time than just one semester.

Primary duties will include:
• Assist with programming and event administration: data entry, logging and organizing preview DVDs, publicity materials, etc.
• Providing General administrative support to the Education Dept: filing, faxing, copying, assist with mailings, sending emails, researching contact names/numbers and general correspondence
• Organizing and editing video clips from our video archiving program
• Filming and editing Q&A’s with film industry speakers
• Assist with committees administration including a Teacher Workshop committee and a new grade school program committee
• May be asked to participate in screening films, depending on experience
• Assist with special projects: Active Cinema, seminars, panels, our annual Environmental Youth Forum in May and the Young Critics Jury program in July etc.
• Additional duties as assigned
• There will be the opportunity to participate in special projects and as a discussion leader according to each intern’s areas of interest or expertise.

Qualifications:
• Must be highly organized and detail oriented with attention to accuracy
• Comfortable working with student ages 13-18
• Preferably familiar with Word, iMovie or Final Cut Pro, Filemaker Pro and Excel on a Mac platform
• Thorough understanding of the Internet
• Interest in Media literacy and/or the filmmaking industry

This job will require working in our San Rafael offices and occasionally in locations in San Francisco and the East Bay.

Compensation:
This is an unpaid internship, however course credit may be available. Interns receive a CFI Associate Membership (with year-round benefits at the Rafael Film Center) and complimentary tickets to the Mill Valley Film Festival and the Smith Rafael Film Center.

Sponsorship and Marketing Intern - San Rafael

Film festival seeks interns to provide administrative and event assistance to the Development department in the run up to and during our 32nd Annual Film Festival. The schedule is flexible, however we request that interns be available to devote a minimum of 8-12 hours a week, Monday through Friday. Ideally, candidates will devote more time during the Festival.
150 hours total for the semester

The Development Department manages numerous relationships with high level sponsors, individuals and in kind partners. Many of the activities include marketing, promotion, hospitality and event functions.

This internship is an excellent opportunity for a hard-working and motivated individual to gain valuable experience assisting with key accounts at one of the foremost Film Festivals in the country. Individuals will get a hands-on understanding of nonprofit organizations.

Primary duties will include:
• Updating and expanding our existing sponsorship and donor databases
• Assisting in researching potential funding sources, including foundations, individuals and corporations, tracking deadlines
• Interfacing with sponsors and donors, requiring a professional demeanor
• Assisting with planning and production of CFI on-site fundraising, cultivation and hospitality events
• Supporting the collecting and tracking sponsors’ recognition for print, events, tickets, electronic and product placement
• Providing General administrative support to the Development Department: filing, faxing, copying, assist with mailings, sending emails, researching contact names/numbers and general correspondence
• Additional duties as assigned

Qualifications:
• Detail-oriented, able to take instruction, take initiative and work with minimal supervision
• Professional demeanor. The intern represents the California Film Institute when speaking with sponsors and donors
• Ability to multitask, exhibit consistent follow-through and can work under time constraints
• Must be highly organized and detail oriented with attention to accuracy
• Familiarity with Marin County/Bay Area businesses and geography a plus, but not essential
• Must be able to work some evenings
• Proficiency in Mac OS, knowledge of and experience with Microsoft Office and Filemaker Pro a plus.

This job will require working in our San Rafael offices.

Radio Station Intern / Producer - Monterey

We house the largest rental inventory of Lighting and Grip Equipment north of Hollywood. Interns will work, hands-on, with all of our equipment to put rental orders together for major productions. Interns may also be required to work on set.

Are you looking to intern for a meaningful organization working with kids?
We bring the art of filmmaking to kids in local children’s hospitals who are faced with serious medical challenges and provide them with an outlet for creative self-expression, a means to learn new skills, and a venue through which they can share their personal stories with others.

Skilled video editors and / or production minded individuals should have compassion and the ability to work with a wide variety of footage in terms of film quality and content: some footage will have children coping with very advanced stages of diseases and complex medical conditions.
An editors’ purpose is to enhance a child’s efforts and help communicate their vision to their family and then to a larger audience. Intern editors are asked to be very creative while honoring the child’s intentions.

This is not an internship where you will work for another editor as an assistant. You will be the Editor and / or Cinematographer on several projects over the course of your internship.

REQUIREMENTS:
• You must have a desire to work with children
• You need to be comfortable working with kids with moderate to severe illness
• Intermediate level (or higher) skill with Final Cut Pro and/or Adobe Premiere

Fiscal Sponsorship, Grants and Residencies Intern
Working under the supervision of the Manager of Fiscal Sponsorship, Grants and Residencies learn how the Film Society’s Fiscal Sponsorship, Grants and Residencies department operates by assisting in the Fiscal, FilmHouse and Grants application process, reading proposals, viewing work samples and supporting the department with administrative projects.

Responsibilities
Assist in all administrative matters related to Fiscal, FilmHouse and Grants applications including the peer review process. Maintain filmmaker files, including preparing and mailing rejection and acceptance letters, entering data (mailing lists, updates) into computer, and filing. Additionally help with all Fiscal, FilmHouse and Grants events.

Skills
We need flexible, energetic, detail-oriented team players with good organizational skills. Macintosh experience helpful, especially in FileMaker Pro, Entourage, Microsoft Word and scanning. Good writing and telephone skills essential.
